1. Quiet start towards the Amstel

After departure, you’ll first cruise through the wider canals. This is a great way to get used to the boat and navigating the city. The pace is slow here, and you’ll have plenty of time to take in the sights.

You soon notice how the city looks different from the water: houseboats, quays full of greenery and the first monumental buildings passing by.

2. The iconic Amstel

As soon as you enter the Amstel River, the water opens up. This stretch feels more spacious and peaceful than the city center. You sail past familiar sights and iconic buildings, while the city itself seems a little further away.

The Amstel River gives you time to truly enjoy the boating experience. Be extra mindful of the wind and other boats: the water is wider and can feel different than in the canals.

3. Classic canals and back towards the city

After the Amstel River, you’ll sail back into the famous canal belt. Narrow canals, historic facades, and characteristic bridges create that typical Amsterdam feel. Here, everything comes together: tranquility, history, and vibrancy.

Bridges and sailing rules

• You’ll pass under several bridges along the way; keep to the right and give each other space.
• Always follow applicable boating regulations and pay close attention to other boats.
• You are not allowed to moor along the quay while sailing .
